We love caricatures. While they poke fun at their subjects, they also capture their personalities and unusual features. Even with the exaggerating effect, they are almost always instantly recognizable.
It takes a lot of talent to create a great caricature, and one artist who has plenty of it is Lindsey Olivares. She creates humorous caricatures of celebrities that she regularly shares on her social media. The list of celebrities who have received a caricature treatment from Olivares includes actor Timothy Chalamet, pop star Taylor Swift, model Naomi Campbell, and book author Stephen King.
Based in Los Angeles, California, Olivares is an award-winning character designer with an impressive resume that includes working on the Academy Award-nominated animated feature The Mitchells Vs. The Machines and collaborating with big-time animated studios like Pixar and Dreamworks Animation.
However, Olivares’ true passion is caricatures. She enjoys the process of turning her initial impressions of the subject into a drawing and exploring how creative she can get with a caricature while still keeping it recognizable.
“Caricature, to me, is about capturing a person’s likeness and essence. When you observe people with genuine curiosity, everyone becomes interesting,” Olivares shared in a recent chat with Bored Panda.
